About Truecoded

Technical depth. Attention to how software is actually used.

Truecoded is a software and technology company that helps organisations understand, structure and further develop complex applications and systems.

I am Dennis De Vetter, the person behind Truecoded. I have worked in software for more than twenty years, across web applications, software products, integrations and application architecture. That experience has taught me that good technical work does not start with code, but with understanding what is needed and what already exists today.

Experience

More than twenty years of software across different contexts.

Throughout my career I have worked on business applications, software products, portals, APIs and system integrations.

The technology changed significantly over those years. The recurring challenge changed much less: understand how processes, users, data and systems fit together and translate that context into software that works in practice.

I have worked both inside product teams and organisations and directly for clients. Architecture and development have gradually moved closer together in my work: make technical choices, but also be able to implement and test them in working software.

Truecoded continues the business I previously operated under the name Frozen Graphics. The name and positioning have changed; the accumulated experience and business history continue.

How I work

Understand first. Then build.

I like to work close to the software and to the people who use it. Before changing something, I want to understand how the current system works, which processes it supports, where users run into problems and which technical constraints or dependencies matter.

Over the years I have also become more critical of change for its own sake. New technology can create useful possibilities, but it is not automatically an improvement. Sometimes a focused change is better than a rebuild. Sometimes a technical risk should be investigated first. And sometimes implementation reveals that an earlier assumption was wrong.

  1. Understand Learn the context, the problem and the existing software.
  2. Structure Make technical choices, responsibilities and dependencies explicit.
  3. Build Turn those choices into working software, test them and adjust where needed.

It is not a fixed step-by-step method. Software development itself produces new information, and good technical decisions need to be able to respond to it.

The name

Why Truecoded?

TRUE
True stands for clarity and integrity. To me, that means looking honestly at what a software challenge needs, even when the best answer is smaller or simpler than first expected. No technology for technology’s sake, and clear communication about possibilities, limitations and choices.
CODED
Coded stands for the craft itself: software engineering, architecture, code, systems and the technical knowledge required to turn ideas into something people can actually use.

To me, Truecoded means building software that is technically sound, fits the context in which it is used and remains understandable and maintainable as it evolves.

A first conversation

Have a software challenge to discuss?

You may already know exactly what needs to be built, or you may simply know where the current software is getting in the way. Tell me what is happening, which systems are involved and what you are trying to make possible. Then we can see whether Truecoded is the right technical fit.
